Beate Bender is head of the chair since july 2013 and executive director of the institute for Product and Service Engineering at the faculty of mechanical engineering at the Ruhr- University Bochum.
Her interests of research result on the one hand of the traditional affinity of the Beitz’ doctrine which is about methodologies of product development as well as methodology in general. On the other hand, the former focuses of research of the chair are integrated. These are for example the classical topics like mechatronics and robotics, bearing research. The close cooperation to the scientific working group of biomechanics which is led by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ulrich Witzel spreads the focus of research of the chair. In close cooperation, the scientific working groups of mechatronics consider a matter of bio mechatronics.
Prof. Bender gained experience in the field of industry, being employed for many years standing in the railway technology. She had various employments in an international operating major company. Beginning with being head of the Department of Engineering to the technical development finally she became project manager. Her work was honored with the price of innovation of the federal state of Berlin Brandenburg.
